We need Congress to support the Obama Administration's funding request for the Green Climate Fund. Climate change is an urgent moral issue. We need to uphold our country's commitments made in the Paris climate agreement, to help nations most vulnerable to climate change.
The Green Climate Fund was set up by the United Nations in 2010 to raise $100 billion from wealthier countries by the year 2020 and transfer the funds to poorer countries for projects that will help climate-vulnerable communities mitigate and adapt to climate change.
The U.S. contribution to the Green Climate Fund is about the price of two B-60 bombers. This fund has the potential to protect the lives of millions of people, which will truly protect and promote sustainable peace.
