Update: the War Powers Resolution, S. J. Res. 68, was passed on February 13, 2020. Thank you for your action.
Although the immediate threat of war with Iran has been avoided, tensions between the two countries remain high. Bipartisan legislation has been introduced in the Senate that will reassert the power of Congress to prevent unauthorized war with Iran. This legislation is expected to come up for a vote in the Senate in the next few days.
Take action: Call your Senators to urge them to prevent unauthorized war with Iran.
It is essential that Senators hear their constituents asking for Congress to assert its constitutional power of oversight on matters of war.

Hello, my name is (your name) and I’m a constituent from (your city/state). As a person of faith, I'm calling to urge Senator________ to support any legislation to prevent an unauthorized war with Iran. Specifically, I urge the Senator to support Senator Kaine’s War Powers Resolution, S.J. Res 68. I oppose yet another unnecessary war in the Middle East, and I believe it is long past time for Congress to reassert its constitutional oversight responsibilities in matters of war. I believe this resolution will encourage the administration to employ diplomacy and other nonviolent tools to engage with Iran.Thank you.
