Two years ago, Pope Francis released his groundbreaking environmental encyclical, Laudato Si’. Since then, world leaders, businesses, and individuals have made commitments to reduce fossil fuel emissions and to help climate vulnerable communities around the world.
The recent change in the U.S. government’s approach to the climate crisis has left many people asking: “What should we do now?”
We invite you to join Christians around the world in prayer and action for the“Season of Creation” from September 1 to October 4.
The Global Catholic Climate Movement offers a Season of Creation website where you can download a toolkit for your church to host a prayer service, search a map to find a prayer service near you, and learn about ways to take action between September 1 to October 4.
Prayer:
You may want to use the Prayer for the Earth that Pope Francis shares in Laudato Si’. Other prayer resources are listed in the toolkit on the Season of Creation website.
Action:
The Season of Creation invites you to join the “Big Shift Global” Campaign to ask the World Bank to shift all of its projects away from fossil fuels and to 100 percent renewable energy. Here’s a fact sheet that explains the campaign.
We hope you will join us in celebrating the Season of Creation. Thank you for all your prayers and actions for the care for Creation!
