A message from Maryknoll Sister Elizabath Zwareva, our representative at the United Nations:
Calling all NGOs!
The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is encouraging NGOs to apply for consultative status with the UN (#Deadline: 1 June 2017)
Why apply?
From the beginning, ECOSOC has been the main entry point into the UN system for NGOs. ECOSOC remains the only main UN body with a formal framework for NGO participation. NGOs are given opportunities to express their views and influence the work of the Council.
The Council serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to Member States and the United Nations system.
How to apply?
The following link provides background information, the benefits of consultative status and instructions for how to apply.
