Sign the petition asking President Biden to speak out on Sudan.
On April 15, over a dozen international human rights organizations march to the White House in solidarity with the people of Sudan to mark the one-year anniversary of the bloody civil war. We have covered the violence of the civil war, including evidence of ethnic killings, in NewsNotes and in the Maryknoll Magazine.
As a result of the war, tens of thousands are dead and over 8.5 million people displaced, either within Sudan or across Sudan’s borders. Peace talks between the two warring generals were scheduled to begin on April 18 but are now postponed indefinitely as widespread hunger grows.
Refugees International’s petition to President Biden asks for:
- the administration’s full support for the Special Envoy for Sudan,
- putting governments implicated in arming atrocity perpetrators on notice,
- scaling up humanitarian aid, and
- support of evidence collection of atrocities.
