Humanitarian aid entering Gaza has fallen to an all-time low. The United Nations reported on Nov. 8 that there is a strong likelihood that famine is already occurring in northern Gaza, and that immediate action is required within days, not weeks, to address the crisis.
We join Pope Francis in praying for a “halt to any action that might fuel a spiral of violence with the risk of dragging the Middle East into an even greater conflict.”
In the next few days, the Senate is expected to vote for the first time ever on a resolution to block transfers to Israel of certain offensive weapons that are particularly devastating to civilians when used in a densely populated urban environment. Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns has partnered with over 50 other faith-based and humanitarian organizations in a campaign to ask the Senate to stop arming the conflict.
Add your name to the petition which states:
“We urge you to support the resolution to stop the $20 billion weapons sale to Israel. It’s a crucial and necessary step to end the war on Gaza.”
