Voting for the 2024 elections has already begun in the United States, and the election has broad implications for peace and human rights both within the country and around the world.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' guidance on elections, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, stresses the significance of the vote as members of a democratic country. Pope Francis, when asked about the upcoming U.S. elections, said,
“In the moral [teaching] about politics, in general, it is said that to not vote is bad. It is not good. You must vote, and one has to choose the lesser evil... Each one, in their conscience, must think and [vote]."
Dan Moriarty will be leading the webinar Peace, War, and Human Rights to address the policy issues that bear directly on the elections.
And be sure to verify your registration to vote at vote.gov. If you are not yet registered to vote, there is still time to do so as registration is currently open across all states. Even if you believe you are registered, be sure to check your registration to make sure your registration has not been purged and that the registration contains the right information.
