The Season of Creation begins Sunday! People of faith from around the world celebrate September as the ecumenical Season of Creation, where we renew our commitment to care for our common home. The theme for this year is “To hope and act with Creation.”
For this Season of Creation and thereafter, we pray that we may be tillers and not devourers of the garden of nature:
- Pray: Join the opening global ecumenical prayer service for Season of Creation on Sunday, September 1 at 9am ET.
- Study: Join a webinar on the Fossil Fuel Non Proliferation Act on Tuesday, September 10 at 9am ET to learn how we can turn around predator practices and take positive steps to mitigate the main cause of climate change.
- Act: Start or support a Saint Kateri Habitat. Our care for creation begins at home, within ourselves, our families, parishes, and local communities. Fall is a great time to prepare a spot, whether that be in a window sill, backyard, parish or community park.
And be inspired! Pope Francis released a two minute video on YouTube in anticipation of the start of the Season of Creation. In it he says, “Let us pray that each of us listen with our hearts to the cry of the Earth and of the victims of environmental disasters and the climate crisis, making a personal commitment to care for the world we inhabit.”
