September 1 marks the first day of the Season of Creation, a time in which Christians around the world join in prayer and action for our common home. The Season of Creation begins on September 1, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and ends on October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.
This year’s symbol for the Season of Creation is a mighty river. Prophet Amos cries out: “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24) We are called to join the river of justice and peace, embracing climate and ecological justice, and listening and responding to communities most impacted by climate injustice and biodiversity loss.
Join us in working together on behalf of all Creation, as part of that mighty river of peace and justice.
